Srivani Vokkarane

Srivani Vokkarane is an accomplished artist trained in Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi. Srivani is also trained in Carnatic Vocal and is currently being trained in Carnatic Veena.
Srivani was introduced to Bharatanatyam at a tender age. She has completed the proficiency level (Vidwath) Board exams from Karnataka under Guru Premakumari in the Pandanallur style. Srivani was awarded the ‘Natya Mayuri’ title and has also secured the Karnataka State Sangeetha Nritya Academy scholarship to advance her studies in Bharatanatyam.

Srivani continued to expand her artistic pursuit by learning Kuchipudi. She was fortunate to be trained under the most sought-after Kuchipudi proponents Guru Vyjayanthi Kashi, Guru Veena Murthy Vijay, and Guru Vedantam Venkatanagachalapathi Rao.
Her persistent quest for knowledge led to academic interest, and she earned her Master of Arts in Kuchipudi Dance from Silicon Andhra University, California.
With close to three decades of practice and dedication towards the art, she is keen on spreading the art and awareness through ‘Guru-Shishya’ Parampara. She is the founder and artistic director of Kaivalya Arts where she inspires and coaches dance aspirants.

Srivani started learning Carnatic Vocal at a young age and she always felt that learning music enhances the power of creativity and imagination. The two art forms, dance and music together bring out the aesthetic components of performing, thereby complementing each other. Srivani had her initial training under Guru Ramakrishna and then continued to learn under Guru Rohini Prabhunandan. Later she continued to advance her training under Guru Kalavathy Avadhoot.

Srivani is a firm believer that learning has no age limits. She began her journey of learning the melodious string instrument Veena recently from Smt. Raksha Vishwanath (disciple of the Veena maestro Dr.Suma Sudhindra).
